“It may be that, some ages hence... the restoration of grey hairs to juvenility and the renewing of the exhausted marrow may at length be elicited without a miracle”

Derived cell types
In addition to our Dry AMD and Regenerative stent programmes, Axordia is developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and QA/QC assays for the differentiation and purification of various other cell lines differentiated from its Embryonic Stem Cell lines. Intially these are being developed for Axordia's research lines, but are immediately transferrable to Axordia's GMP-lines as these become available.
Within neuroscience, defined CNS neuronal populations are being derived from HESCs.

Neurons derived in vitro from embryonic stem cells exhibit responses to experimental stimuli to those observed in adult central nervious system neurons.
Membrane calcium fluxes are evident following exposure to potassium chloride, ATP and gltamate.
Axordia has also demonstrated the capacity of several of its proprietary HESC lines to differentiate to hepatocytes. Key markers indicate the presence of both primitive endoderm (the germ layer from which liver is ultimately generated) and also functional hepatocytes.
Axordia is currently developing methods to improve the differentiation process of the hepatocyte lineage to enable their use for drug screening and treatment for chronic and acute liver disease.
